| Obverse description | Within a beaded inner circle, Saint Mark is depicted seated facing right on a throne, nimbed and robed, extending his right hand in blessing toward the kneeling Doge Silvestro Valier, who is shown in ducal regalia receiving the gonfalon — a long processional standard topped with a cross — held between the two figures. The composition is enclosed within a raised linear border, with the mint officials' initials F·T appearing in the lower field below a horizontal line, flanked by decorative rosettes. The circular Latin legend surrounding the scene reads S·M·V·SILV·VALERIO·DVX, identifying Saint Mark of Venice and the reigning Doge. |
