| Obverse description | Senator depicted kneeling to left in an attitude of veneration before a standing figure of St. Peter, who presents a vexillum (banner) bearing armorial devices; a rose is shown at the base of the composition. The scene is rendered in the Gothic style characteristic of medieval Italian hammered coinage, with the figures occupying the full coin field. The surrounding circular legend in uncial Latin identifies St. Peter as the senatorial patron of the city of Rome. |
