| Additional information |
Peter Vigilius von Thun was the last Prince-Bishop of Trento to exercise meaningful temporal authority before Joseph II's ecclesiastical reforms stripped much of the Prince-Bishopric's independence. This piece, catalogued as a pattern (Pn1), was never issued for circulation — Trento's monetary autonomy was already contracting under Habsburg pressure, and the ducato denomination itself was a statement the mint could make on paper more easily than in practice.
