| Reverse description | A standing frontal figure of Saint Peter, nimbed and robed in flowing drapery, occupies the central field. The saint raises his right hand in blessing and holds a large key in his left hand, emblematic of his role as keeper of the gates of Heaven. He stands upon a low platform or exergual line. A beaded inner circle frames the figure, with the circular Latin legend S. PETRVS. surrounding the design in the outer border, rendered in the angular Gothic letterforms typical of early fifteenth-century Italian ecclesiastical coinage. |
