Obverse description Draped bust of Giulia Varano facing left, her hair elaborately braided and adorned in Renaissance fashion, rendered in fine relief typical of Italian Renaissance hammered coinage. The effigy is enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The surrounding legend reads IVLIA · DE · VARANO · CAM · DVX, identifying her as Giulia of Varano, Duchess of Camerino. The portrait is executed in a refined humanistic style consistent with early sixteenth-century Italian medallion art.
