Obverse description Central oval shield bearing the arms of Pope Callixtus III (Alfonso de Borja), depicting a walking bull — the Borja family device — set within a pointed heraldic escutcheon. Above the shield, the papal tiara and crossed keys of Saint Peter are displayed, the traditional symbols of pontifical authority. The entire armorial composition is framed within a beaded oval border. The surrounding circular legend reads CALISTVS PP TERTIVS, identifying the issuing pontiff, divided by rosette stops and rendered in Gothic-influenced capital letters characteristic of mid-fifteenth-century Roman die-cutting.
