Reverse description The crowned coat of arms of the Duchy of Nassau, depicting a rampant golden lion on a shield draped with an ermine-lined mantle surmounted by a ducal crown with pendant tassels at either side. The shield and mantling are rendered with fine engraving detail, filling the central field. Below the armorial achievement, the date and mint mark appear in the exergue as C. 1818 T., denoting the Wiesbaden Mint and year of issue. The overall heraldic composition is bold and well-centred within the reeded border.
