| Reverse description | A golden eagle displayed regardant to the right, standing atop a great helm oriented to the left, with a cross visible beneath the visor. A fleur-de-lis appears in the lower field below the helm. A Cyrillic legend encircles the design, referencing Transalpine (Wallachia). The composition reflects heraldic conventions of 14th-century Central and Eastern European coinage. |

Vladislav I — also known as Vlaicu Vodă — issued these ducats during a reign defined by constant triangulation between Hungarian suzerainty and Ottoman pressure from the south. The "Type IIa" designation within the MBR series reflects die variations documented among a small surviving corpus; the reference number itself carries a "var" suffix precisely because the emission sequence for this ruler remains incompletely resolved among specialists. Wallachia's silver coinage of this period drew directly on Hungarian minting conventions, including weight standards, which explains the nomenclature despite the purely silver fabric.
