Obverse description Facing busts of the Catholic Monarchs — Ferdinand II of Aragon and Isabella I of Castile — shown in profile facing one another, each crowned, with the mint mark 'C' (for Kampen) visible in the lower field between the effigies. The busts are rendered in the late medieval Spanish style, with fine drapery details on Isabella's veil and Ferdinand's collar. A beaded inner circle frames the central devices, with the Latin legend running along the outer periphery.
