| Obverse description | The coat of arms of the Rosenberg family occupies the central field, comprising a quartered shield bearing a five-petalled rose, supported on the dexter side by a bear and on the sinister side by a lion, both rampant. Above the shield rests an elaborate crested helm surmounted by a coronet, flanked by the initials P and D in Gothic script. A decorative five-petalled rose ornament appears at the top of the coin, above the legend. The circular Latin legend reads PETER·WOKH·GVB·D·ROSEN, identifying the issuing lord Petr Vok of Rosenberg. The entire design is executed in the accomplished Renaissance style characteristic of late sixteenth-century Bohemian coinage. |
