| Reverse description | Christ in Majesty (Christus Pantocrator) is depicted enthroned facing, shown full-length within an oval mandorla or vesica piscis ornamented with a border of small stars, his right hand raised in blessing and his left holding the Gospels. The figure is rendered in the hieratic Byzantine-influenced style characteristic of Venetian ducats. A Latin legend in uncial script encircles the design, bearing the devotional inscription invoking Christ as ruler and affirming the ducat as his gift. The reverse type follows the standard reverse design established for the Venetian gold ducat series. |
