Obverse description Bare-headed bust of Maximilian IV Joseph, Elector of Bavaria, facing right, depicted in military uniform with epaulettes and decorative collar detailing. The effigy is rendered in a neoclassical style with fine hair detail. The circumferential legend reads MAXIMILIAN IOSEPH CHURFÜRST ZU PFALZBAIERN, arranged around the entire periphery of the obverse field.

Reverse description Central device comprising the crowned oval shield of the Bavarian Elector, bearing the quartered arms of the Palatinate-Bavaria with the lozengy field of Bavaria and the Palatinate lion, surmounted by a princely electoral crown. The shield is flanked by symmetrical olive or laurel branches tied at the base. The legend FÜR GOTT UND VATERLAND arches around the upper periphery, and the date 1805 appears in the exergue below the branches.
