Obverse description Central design consisting of four crowned, interlaced double-L monograms arranged in cruciform pattern, forming an ornate cross with flared terminals. The monograms, referencing Landgrave Ludwig (Louis) VIII, are surmounted by a single electoral crown at apex. The cross arms bear decorative foliate scrollwork in the angles, and the overall composition fills the field to the milled border. No peripheral legend is present.
