| Obverse description | Crowned double-headed imperial eagle displayed, with wings spread, each head facing outward. The eagle holds a scepter in its right talon and an orb in its left talon. At the center of the breast is a heart-shaped shield bearing a crowned device. The entire composition is rendered in high relief against a plain field, in the tradition of German princely mining coinage. |

| Reverse description | Five lines of bold raised Latin legend occupying the entire field, reading FÜRSTL / SCHWARZE / RUDOLSTÆD / DUCATEN / 1803, with a period or stop following each line except the first. The lettering is rendered in large, well-spaced serif capitals. The date 1803 appears in the exergual line. No additional decorative elements are present, the plain field giving the inscription a stark and formal appearance consistent with Ausbeute (mining) ducat coinage of the period. |
