Reverse description Half-length effigy of Elector Frederick III facing right, similarly attired in robe and electoral hat and holding a sword over his right shoulder. The name FRID - III is divided across the field. A two-fold heraldic shield displaying the combined arms of electoral and ducal Saxony appears before the figure and divides the numerals 15 - 17, referencing the centenary of the Reformation in 1517. The circumferential legend reads SECVLVM LVTHERANVM.
