| Obverse description | Enthroned facing figure of the Virgin Mary, crowned and nimbed, holding the Christ Child on her left arm. The infant Christ is depicted raising his right hand in blessing. The figures are rendered in the medieval Gothic tradition typical of Hungarian ducats. A beaded inner circle frames the central device, with the circular Latin legend reading IOHAN SIGIS M R... (Johann Sigismund, King) around the periphery, separated by cross stops. |
