Additional information

Hieronymus von Colloredo is best remembered today as Mozart's employer — and the archbishop who effectively fired him in 1781, an act that made Mozart a free agent in Vienna but left Colloredo's reputation permanently shadowed by the association. These ducats were struck during the years immediately following that rupture, when Colloredo was consolidating Josephinist reforms across the archbishopric, suppressing monasteries and reorganizing church finances under pressure from Vienna.

The Zöttl reference numbers 3153–3156 reflect at least four documented die variants across this short span, typical of the Salzburg mint's practice of annual die preparation for the ducat series.
