Obverse description Armored and laureate bust of Gustav II Adolf facing right, wearing an elaborately decorated breastplate with ornamental collar and mantle draped over the shoulders. The effigy is rendered in high relief in the characteristic early 17th-century German style. A circular Latin legend surrounds the portrait within a beaded border.

Reverse description Quartered royal Swedish coat of arms displayed on an ornate shield surmounted by an elaborate closed crown, supported by carved mantling. The quarters bear the three crowns of Sweden and the lion passant of the Vasa dynasty. The date 1632 appears to the left of the shield, and a circular Latin legend reading DUCATVS NOVVS REGIS surrounds the central device within a beaded border.
