| Obverse description | Christ Pantokrator portrayed standing facing in full length, set within a beaded mandorla. The figure is rendered in Byzantine hieratic style, robed in flowing drapery, with the right hand raised in benediction and the left hand clasping the Gospels. Nine six-pointed stars are distributed throughout the mandorla field. A Latin legend encircles the design, closely following the Venetian ducat iconographic prototype. The entire composition is executed in the flat, stylised manner characteristic of hammered medieval gold coinage. |
