Obverse description Draped bust of King George II facing left, wearing a voluminous curled wig rendered in fine detail, with truncation showing drapery at the shoulder. The circular Latin legend surrounds the effigy along the rim, reading GEORG II D G M BR F & H REX F D, with the continuation S AUR HERC appearing in the lower field below the bust. The portrait is executed in high relief in the baroque court style typical of early Hanoverian coinage.
