Obverse description Crowned quartered shield of arms of Brunswick-Lüneburg, surmounted by an electoral bonnet, occupying the central field. The multi-quartered escutcheon displays the heraldic charges of the various constituent territories, including lions, a horse, and other traditional devices. A Latin legend surrounds the shield along the periphery, separated from the inner field by a toothed border.

Reverse description The Saxon white horse, the traditional emblem of the Duchy of Brunswick-Lüneburg, depicted rearing and leaping to the left over a ground line, with flowing mane and tail rendered in fine detail. The motto legend IN RECTO DECUS arcs across the upper field. The date appears in the lower exergual area flanked by dots, with the mintmaster's initials HB below.
