| Obverse description | Quartered coat of arms of the Archbishopric of Mainz within a beaded inner circle, comprising the wheel of Mainz and the arms of the Greiffenklau family, rendered in elaborate heraldic detail. The shield is decorated with scrollwork and surrounded by a wide outer legend. The circumferential Latin inscription reads GEORGI FRIDER D GARC HIEP MOG P E EP WOR, referencing Archbishop George Frederick by his titles. The coin's milled edge is clearly visible, and the entire design is executed in the high-relief hammered style typical of early seventeenth-century German ecclesiastical gold coinage. |
