| Obverse description | Bearded and armored bust of Gábor Báthori facing right, wearing a plumed and jeweled helmet, set within a beaded inner circle. The bust is rendered in a bold, high-relief hammered style typical of Transylvanian ducats of the early seventeenth century. The surrounding legend reads GAB. D. G. PRIN. TRAN., abbreviating the ruler's name and title as Prince of Transylvania by the grace of God. The field is smooth gold, with the portrait occupying the majority of the coin's face. |
