Obverse description Draped bust of Friedrich Wilhelm, Elector of Brandenburg, facing forward within a beaded inner circle, his long flowing hair falling to his shoulders and his mantle richly decorated with an ornate broderie pattern. The effigy is rendered in a robust baroque style characteristic of mid-seventeenth-century German ducats. A Latin legend encircles the portrait between the inner circle and the outer beaded border, citing his titles as Margrave of Brandenburg, Arch-Chancellor, and Elector of the Holy Roman Empire.
