Reverse description A cruciform arrangement of four crowned and interlaced F III royal monograms, each formed by two mirrored letters F flanking the Roman numeral III, meeting at a central orb or sceptre device. Electoral orb and sceptre emblems appear in the four angles between the arms of the cross. The date 1688 is distributed in the quarters between the monograms, with digits separated by the decorative elements. The overall design is characteristic of late 17th-century German princely coinage.
