| Obverse description | Within a double-lined square border, the crowned royal shield of Denmark bearing a rampant lion facing left, rendered in bold relief characteristic of mid-16th century hammered klippe coinage. The crown surmounting the shield is of open royal form with elaborate foliate and orb finials, flanked by decorative scrollwork cartouche elements on either side. The shield occupies the full central field of the diamond-oriented square planchet, with no surrounding legend. The design is executed in a vigorous, slightly crude hammered style consistent with emergency or campaign-issue wartime coinage. |

| Reverse description | The denomination and date are inscribed in four lines across the central field of the diamond-oriented square klippe, within a double-lined border, reading: I / DOC / KATE / 1564, with pellet stops flanking the numeral I at the top and flanking the date at the bottom. A small lozenge stop appears to the right within the field. The bold, slightly irregular letterforms are characteristic of hammered emergency coinage of the Northern European Renaissance period. The plain field surrounding the inscription carries no additional decoration. |
