Obverse description Right-facing draped bust of King Frederick I of Sweden, rendered in high relief with fine baroque portraiture characteristic of Hedlinger's engraving style. The king is depicted with a long, flowing curled wig falling to his shoulders, wearing an armored cuirass with ornate drapery. The circular legend reads FRIDERICVS • D•G • REX • SVECIÆ • (Frederick, by the Grace of God, King of Sweden), distributed around the full periphery of the coin. The portrait fills the central field with commanding presence, and the fine detail of the facial features and costume reflects the accomplished artistry of the die engraver.
