The heraldic composition incorporates the various territorial arms of the county, including those of Lichtenberg, Ochsenstein, Maréschal, and Strasbourg advocacy. The date 16-81 is divided on either side of the crowned shield, with the mint-master's initials S M appearing in the legend. The Latin legend surrounds the central device within a beaded border.
