Obverse description Equestrian effigy of Frederick August I in profile to the right, depicted as a armored ruler mounted on a rearing horse with flowing tail and mane, the figure wearing a crown and holding a baton or scepter. The legend FRID. AVGUST. is inscribed in the field around the upper portion of the design, divided on either side of the rider. The scene is rendered in high relief with fine Baroque detail characteristic of early eighteenth-century Saxon coinage.
