Reverse description Crowned, squarish four-fold coat of arms with a four-fold central escutcheon, set within an elaborate baroque cartouche or frame. The date is divided by the shield, with the mint master's initials HL appearing in the lower field. The surrounding Latin motto legend reads DECORUM • QUOD • HONESTUM, a phrase reflecting the virtuous ideals of the ruling house of Lippe. The overall design is characteristic of the ornate heraldic style favored by German princely states in the early eighteenth century.
