Reverse description The Imperial Austrian double-headed eagle displayed, each head surmounted by an archducal crown, with the central Imperial crown above both heads. The eagle bears on its breast the quartered shield of the Habsburg dominions. The eagle's talons clutch a sword and an orb. The circumferential Latin legend, separated by dots, reads REX.LOMB.ET.VEN.DALM.GAL.LOD.ILL., with the jubilee dates 1848 and 1848 appearing in the upper field flanking the crowns, the mint letter A to the left of 1848, and the commemorative date 1898 appearing in the exergue.
