(Translation: Franz Joseph I, by the grace of God, Austrian Emperor)
Reverse description The reverse displays the Austrian Imperial double-headed eagle displayed, each head surmounted by a separate crown and the whole ensigned by a large central imperial crown above. The eagle bears on its breast an elaborate quartered shield of arms comprising the territories of the Habsburg Empire. In its dexter talon the eagle grasps a sword and sceptre, and in its sinister talon an orb. The date appears in the upper field between the two crowned heads, flanked by the mint mark letter. The circular Latin legend, separated by crosses and pellets, reads HVNG·BOH·LOMB·ET·VEN·GAL·LOD·ILL·REX·A·A·, encircling the eagle within a beaded border.
