Reverse description Large quartered royal coat of arms of Castile and Aragon surmounted by a royal crown, displaying castles and lions in the Castilian quarters and the vertical pales of Aragon in the remaining quarters. The shield is rendered in the late Gothic heraldic style characteristic of the Catholic Monarchs' coinage. A Latin legend encircles the shield, naming the principal territories of the Crown of Aragon, with small ornamental stops separating the words.
