Obverse lettering MO NOV AVREA CIVITA IMPERI CAMPEN
(Translation: New golden coin of the Imperial City of Kampen)
Reverse description A crowned standing armored effigy of Holy Roman Emperor Ferdinand III occupies the central field, depicted in full-length frontal view, holding a scepter in the right hand and an orb in the left, rendered in the style typical of Dutch hammered gold ducats of the period. The date is inscribed in two parts flanking the emperor's figure in the lower field. A circular peripheral legend surrounds the effigy reading FERD III DG K O IVNGA BO REX, identifying Ferdinand III by the grace of God as King of Hungary and Bohemia. The lettering is separated by small pellets or stops and follows the full circumference of the coin. The hammered flan gives the coin its characteristic irregular outline.
