| Obverse description | Full-length effigy of Emperor Ferdinand I standing facing, clad in armour, the figure dividing the surrounding Latin legend. The initial letter I of IMPERATOR appears prominently between the emperor's feet in the lower field, a characteristic placement on this hammered ducat type. The legend is arranged in two arcs flanking the imperial figure. The execution reflects the robust, high-relief style typical of mid-sixteenth-century Austrian hammered gold coinage. |

| Reverse description | The crowned heraldic shield of Carinthia (Kärnten) displayed at centre within a beaded inner circle, serving as the principal device identifying this ducat's mint at Klagenfurt. A continuous Latin legend encircles the shield in the outer field, listing the ruler's remaining royal and archducal titles. The date of issue appears above the shield at the top of the coin, an arrangement standard to this Ferdinand I Klagenfurt ducat series. The overall composition is characteristic of Austrian provincial hammered gold coinage of the third quarter of the sixteenth century. |
