Additional information

Klippe ducats of this period were almost never intended for commerce. Württemberg's late-17th and early-18th century klippe issues were prestige strikes — gifts exchanged at court, distributed as honoraria, or presented at New Year's by the duke's household. The square format itself signaled this purpose immediately to any contemporary recipient.

Ebner 17 is among the scarcer documented strikes from the Stuttgart mint in this run, with surviving examples traceable primarily through cabinet dispersals rather than circulation finds.
