Obverse description Elaborately quartered episcopal coat of arms of Christoph Bernhard von Galen, Bishop of Münster, displayed centrally within a baroque cartouche and surmounted by a bishop's mitre and crossed crosier. Two rampant lions serve as heraldic supporters flanking the shield on either side. The circular Latin legend surrounds the entire design, reading the bishop's titles and name abbreviated around the periphery of the coin.

Reverse description Four-line Latin inscription DVCATVS NOVVS EPI MONAST with the date 1652 below, all enclosed within a wreath of laurel branches tied at the base with a ribbon bow. A decorative foliate ornament with small cross is placed at the top of the wreath above the legend. The overall composition is elegant and symmetrical, in the tradition of seventeenth-century German ecclesiastical coinage.
