| Obverse description | Right-facing draped bust of King Christian V, wearing a long flowing allonge wig with elaborate curled locks characteristic of late 17th-century Baroque portraiture, engraved in high relief with fine detail to the drapery at the truncation. The king's effigy is rendered in a bold, sculptural style attributed to engraver Anton Meybusch. The circular Latin legend reads CHRIST · V · D · G · DAN · N · V · G · REX · around the periphery, separated by raised dots. The reeded border frames the design, and the open field surrounding the bust lends the portrait a commanding presence. |
