Obverse description The Baden-Durlach coat of arms — a per-bend-sinister divided shield charged with the distinctive diagonal stripe on a field of ermine — is displayed centrally, surmounted by a princely crown with cross finial. The shield is supported on either side by rearing griffins facing outward, rendered in high relief in the Baroque style. An ornamental cartouche with floral and scroll elements frames the base of the composition. The entire design is contained within a plain inner field bordered by a fine milled or beaded outer rim.
