Obverse description A rampant crowned lion, facing right, supports a large ornate baroque shield bearing the numeral '1' in the field. The legend STADT·MANNHEIM arcs around the upper portion of the coin. The entire design is contained within a milled border, with the lion rendered in fine relief characteristic of mid-18th century German engraving.
