The effigy occupies the central field, truncated at the shoulder with light armour or drapery visible. The surrounding legend in Latin reads CARL . FRIDERICH . D . G . DVX . SVPREMVS . A large ducal crown surmounts the shield at top center. The date 17-05 is divided by the shield on either side, with the mintmaster's initials B H positioned at the lower field flanking the cartouche. The circular legend DVCATVS . SLESVICENSIS . MONETA . NOVA . AVREA surrounds the entire composition, separated by pellets. |
