Obverse description Draped bust of Duke Charles Frederick facing right, with long flowing hair, rendered in fine baroque style. The effigy occupies the central field, truncated at the shoulder with light armour or drapery visible. The surrounding legend in Latin reads CARL . FRIDERICH . D . G . DVX . SVPREMVS . SLES:, separated by pellets, with a small floral ornament at the base of the bust below the legend.

Reverse description Crowned oval shield bearing the rampant lion of Schleswig, flanked by two rampant lion supporters standing atop a decorative cartouche base. A large ducal crown surmounts the shield at top center. The date 17-05 is divided by the shield on either side, with the mintmaster's initials B H positioned at the lower field flanking the cartouche. The circular legend DVCATVS . SLESVICENSIS . MONETA . NOVA . AVREA surrounds the entire composition, separated by pellets.
