Obverse description Quartered coat of arms of Abbot Caspar von Böselager and the Abbey of Corvey, displayed within an ornate baroque cartouche with elaborate foliate scrollwork mantling on either side. The shield is surmounted by a princely hat above a crossed crozier and sword, symbolising the abbot's dual ecclesiastical and secular authority as Prince-Abbot of the Holy Roman Empire. The date appears in the lower field below the arms. The circumferential Latin legend reads CASPARUS D. G. ABBAS CORBEIENSIS S. R. I. PRIN., identifying the issuer as Caspar, by the grace of God Abbot of Corvey and Prince of the Holy Roman Empire.
