Obverse description The entire field is occupied by an eleven-line funerary Latin inscription in bold relief, filling the coin from rim to rim within a fine beaded border. The text commemorates Duke Bogislaw XIV of Pomerania-Stettin, identifying him as the fourteenth and last of his name, recording his birth on 31 March 1580, his death on 10 March 1637, and his interment on 25 May 1654. The lettering is rendered in the characteristic early seventeenth-century Roman capital style, with the date 1654 prominently placed in the final line. The densely packed inscription leaves virtually no open field, underscoring the memorial character of the issue.
