| Obverse description | Left-facing crowned bust of Saint Adelaide (Sancta Adelheid), Empress of the Holy Roman Empire, depicted in a medieval stylistic manner with long flowing hair cascading to the shoulders. The imperial crown is rendered in fine relief with ornate arched and trefoil decorations. The surrounding legend reads SANCTA ADELHEID IMPERATRIX, divided on either side of the effigy, with the fineness designation 999 appearing in the lower field near the base of the portrait. The overall execution is in a bold, high-relief proof style characteristic of the Aureus Magnus series. |
