Reverse description The martyr saint Ursus, patron of Solothurn, stands facing in full armour with a nimbus (halo) about his head, holding an upright standard bearing a pennant in his left hand; a sword rests diagonally behind him at lower left. The figure is rendered in a robust Baroque style occupying the central field. The abbreviated Latin legend S URSUS MART is distributed around the periphery, separated by small ornamental stops, and the whole is enclosed within a finely milled edge.
