Obverse description A fully armored knight stands facing, holding the arms of Hamburg on a shield in one hand and an upraised sword in the other. The date is split into two numerals, one appearing on each side of the central figure. The surrounding legend reads NVMVS AUREVS HAMBVRGENSIS in Latin characters. The design is rendered in a bold, heraldic style characteristic of late German city-state coinage.

Reverse description A five-line Latin inscription is contained within a rectangular frame, with ornamental decorations flanking the outer border on each side. The overall composition reflects the precise mercantile standards of the Hamburg monetary tradition. The mintmaster's initial B appears at the end of the inscription.
