Reverse description The reverse presents a right-facing laureate bust of Holy Roman Emperor Ferdinand III, depicted with long flowing hair, a trimmed beard, and armoured shoulders draped with a richly decorated mantle bearing an ornamental clasp. The portrait is rendered in the Baroque style characteristic of mid-seventeenth-century Imperial coinage, with fine detail in the facial features and armour. The circumferential Latin legend FERDINANDVS III D G R I S A — abbreviating Dei Gratia Romanorum Imperator Semper Augustus — encircles the effigy within a beaded border, with stops separating each abbreviated element.
