| Obverse description | Full-length figure of Saint John the Baptist, nimbed and facing slightly left, standing upon the city arms of Lüneburg, cradling the Agnus Dei (Lamb of God) in his left arm while blessing it with his right hand. The saint is rendered in a Gothic stylistic tradition, with fine drapery detail. A beaded inner circle frames the central device, with the abbreviated Latin legend distributed around the periphery within a dotted border. |
