| Obverse description | Full-length facing figure of St. Afra standing in the field, robed and nimbed, her right hand extended downward toward a large pine cone resting upon a decorative pedestal at lower right, with stylized flames or reeds rising behind her to the left. The saint's posture and drapery are rendered in the baroque style typical of Augsburg civic coinage of the early seventeenth century. The circular legend is divided on either side of the figure, reading S. AFRAE. PROTECT. to the right and AVGVSTA. VINDEL. to the left. |

| Reverse description | Displayed double-headed imperial eagle with spread wings, each head surmounted by an individual crown beneath a large central imperial crown, the whole forming the classic Habsburgian heraldic eagle. An ornate shield of arms is affixed to the breast of the eagle. The encircling legend names Emperor Ferdinand II with his full imperial titles, and the date appears at the conclusion of the legend. The mintmaster's initials BS are visible in the lower field between the eagle's talons on dated examples attributable to that officer. |
