Obverse description Five-line Latin inscription within a plain rectangular cartouche occupying the central field, reading MON NO / AVREA / CAMPEN / CIVITAS / IMPERII, translating as 'New gold coinage of the imperial city of Kampen.' The cartouche is framed by elaborate strapwork and foliate scrollwork ornaments at all four corners and along the lateral borders, executed in a late Renaissance decorative style typical of the period. The outer border of the flan shows traces of irregular hammered striking with no additional legend. The overall composition is architecturally formal, with the inscription serving as the sole pictorial and textual element.
